Honest Seventy Hotel Barcelona Review: Pros & Cons
The Seventy Hotel is a modern hotel with a rooftop pool and spa area in the Eixample neighborhood. It’s within short walking distance from some of Gaudi’s best works, the Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, and Casa Battlรณ.
During my numerous visits to Barcelona, I’ve had a chance to stay in various neighborhoods, trying out a broad range of accommodations. On my most recent visit, I found myself spending a night at the Seventy Hotel.

- Great location
Seventy Hotel Barcelona Features
Rooftop Pool
One of the standout features of the Seventy Hotel is its rooftop pool. The perfect place to refresh on a hot summer day. The numerous sun lounges scattered around the rooftop invite the guests to relax under the Spanish sun with a drink in hand from the pool bar.
Unfortunately, I visited in winter so I couldn’t experience the pool atmosphere myself but I could see the potential for a truly memorable summer experience.
Spa Area
At the Seventy Hotel Spa, you’ll find a serene sanctuary with a pool, steam sauna, traditional sauna, and showers.
To ensure tranquility, they limit the number of guests to a maximum of 8 at a time. However, there is a 30-minute time limit per day, which you can book at the spa reception or by phone.
However, the trade-off for this peaceful experience is a 30-minute time limit per stay, which you’ll need to pre-book either at the spa reception or via phone.
We booked our time slot at the spa reception and received bathrobes for convenience. Changing in our hotel room, we made our way back to the spa already robed and ready to relax.
The spa was a calm oasis, although the pool temperature was a bit cooler than I would have preferred, which slightly tempered my enjoyment.
A bonus of the spa area is that all spa treatments you can buy in addition are vegan, so they only use vegan products in the spa area.
Fitness Room
The fitness room at the Seventy Hotel, while on the petite side, packs in a surprising amount of utility. Each overnight stay entitles you to 1 hour of access to the room per day.
Given its small size, you do need to prebook your time slot, either at the spa reception or via a phone call from your room.
While relaxing in the spa, I noticed the fitness room, which had only one person – a woman doing yoga. So it seems despite its small size, the room is still a peaceful spot for workouts or yoga sessions.
In case the fitness room is too small for you, you can just get your workout done by running up to the best viewing points of Barcelona.
Lounge Area
Just next to the reception, you’ll find the lounge areas. The lounge area at ground level is a cozy area filled with a mix of chairs and benches. It’s a spot that truly invites you to sit down, relax, and soak in the ambiance of the hotel.
The lounge area on the first floor has a bit more of an office vibe. So, it’s the perfect place if you need to get a bit of work done while in Barcelona.
The bookshelves adorning the walls add to the snug feel of this area, creating the illusion of a private library. I noticed that the books are cut in half to reduce the depth they take up on the shelves. So, the bookshelves are truly just decorative.
Restaurant and Bar
The Seventy Hotel hosts a restaurant and bar that offers a variety of options. During the summer, the hotel opens a rooftop bar, offering guests the perfect setting to enjoy a stunning Barcelona sunset with a drink in hand.
For those who prefer the comfort of their rooms, the hotel also provides room service. In addition, they offer a buffet breakfast for an additional charge. But since they don’t have vegan options, I went to some vegan breakfast places in Barcelona instead.
Unfortunately, during my visit, I did not try any meals at the hotel. While they proudly advertise that all their spa treatments are vegan, I was disappointed to find not a single labeled vegan option on their menu.
However, one of the hotel’s great advantages is its great location, it’s within close walking distance to some of Barcelona’s best vegan restaurants. So, despite the lack of vegan options in the hotel, I found no shortage of plant-based food in the surrounding area.
Hotel Room
When it comes to the hotel room itself, I opted for the most budget-friendly option, the Basic Double Room. It was a neat and clean space that ticked off all the basics for a comfortable stay.
The standout feature has to be the ultra-comfortable bed that provided a peaceful night’s sleep after a day of exploring Barcelona’s vegan food scene and sights.
However, apart from that, there wasn’t anything particularly remarkable about the room. It was a simple, yet functional space that served its purpose well.
Pros of Seventy Hotel in Barcelona

- Well-maintained Spa: The spa is the perfect place for relaxing after a day of sightseeing and exploring the city.
- Compact Fitness Room: Despite its size, the fitness room is well-equipped and provides a quiet workout space.
- Cozy Lounge Areas: The lounge areas, with their bookshelf decorations and comfortable seating, create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
- Comfortable Beds: The beds in the rooms are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep after exploring Barcelona or one of the day trip options from Barcelona.
- Excellent Location: The hotel is located within walking distance of some of Barcelona’s finest restaurants and attractions.
- Clean and Functional Rooms: The rooms are tidy, functional, and meet all the basic requirements for a comfortable stay.
Cons of Seventy Hotel in Barcelona
- Limited Vegan Options: While the hotel prides itself on its vegan spa treatments, it doesn’t extend the same consideration to its menu, lacking labeled vegan options. However, since there are so many delicious vegan restaurants near the hotel, I didn’t mind.
- Small Fitness Room: The fitness room is quite small and might not cater to guests looking for a spacious workout area. However, when I was there it was almost empty.
- Time Limit in the Spa: The 30-minute time restriction at the spa might not be enough for those looking to have a longer, more leisurely spa session. But this rule helps maintain a serene and less crowded environment.
- Seasonal Rooftop Pool: The rooftop pool isn’t open year-round, so winter visitors might miss out on this experience. On the brighter side, winter is the best chance you’ll get for a rooftop pool photo session without any other people there. Winter is also the best time to avoid the over tourism in Barcelona in summer.
