Vegan Breakfast in Barcelona: 5 Places to Start Your Day

Finding vegan food in Barcelona is easy, but finding an all-vegan restaurant that’s actually open for breakfast can be surprisingly tricky. Many of the city’s vegan restaurants don’t open until later in the day.

After several trips to Barcelona, I’ve tried the vegan breakfast and brunch spots I could find that open before noon. Whether you want a full brunch, a quick croissant and coffee, or something to grab before sightseeing, these are the places I’d recommend.

Some of my old favorites have sadly closed, so I’ve updated this guide to include vegan breakfast places in Barcelona that are still open. Just make sure to double-check opening hours before you go, as they can change.

Bubita Sangria Bar

Great if you’re very hungry for breakfast

You might not expect a restaurant called Bubita Sangria Bar to be one of my picks for vegan brunch in Barcelona, but it’s a great choice when you want something more substantial than coffee and a pastry.

I went for their full English breakfast, which came with plenty of sweet and savory options and was definitely filling. Their brunch menu also includes bagels and pancakes, so there’s a good mix depending on what you’re craving.

And yes, you can have sangria with breakfast! I don’t drink alcohol, so I ordered one of their non-alcoholic sangrias and really enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a big vegan brunch before a day of exploring Barcelona, Bubita would be my pick.

It’s also a great place for vegan tapas in Barcelona.

The Vegan Corner

The fresh orange juice and the sandwich-croissant was so good!

The Vegan Corner is my pick for a quick vegan breakfast in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. Their food is displayed at the counter, so you can easily see what’s available, and they’ll heat up anything you prefer warm.

I had a croissant sandwich with a doughnut and freshly squeezed orange juice, which made for a simple but really good breakfast. I especially loved being able to get fresh orange juice here.

The central location also makes it convenient when you want to eat quickly and get straight to sightseeing. It’s also a good place to grab a snack while exploring some of Barcelona’s free attractions.

Santa Vegana

Santa Vegana is just a short walk from The Vegan Corner and has a very similar selection of sandwiches, pastries, and other quick bites.

Between the two, I prefer The Vegan Corner for breakfast because it has a better drink selection, including fresh orange juice.

But Santa Vegana became my go-to when I needed something to take away, I stopped here several times to pick up snacks before heading on day trips from Barcelona.

If you want a quick vegan breakfast or something to take with you for the day, Santa Vegana is a convenient option in the Gothic Quarter.

botànic

I liked the interior design of the place

If you prefer a sweet breakfast, botànic is worth a visit for their signature vegan French toast.

We shared the French toast and avocado bread, which was a good decision because the French toast was very sweet and rich. It would have been a bit too much for me on its own, although my boyfriend loved it.

I also really liked the atmosphere at botànic. The chic, modern interior with plants throughout makes it a nice place to sit down and enjoy a slower breakfast rather than just grabbing something to go.

BeBo Cold Press

I went for the açai bowl

If you’re looking for a lighter vegan breakfast, BeBo Cold Press is a good option for açai bowls, cold-pressed juices, and other healthy choices.

I went for an açai bowl and matcha latte. I really enjoyed the açai bowl, but the matcha was too mild for me, I could barely taste the matcha. They also have savory options like grilled wraps and bowls if you want something more filling.

One thing to know before visiting is that the indoor seating is very limited, with only a few chairs. I’d consider BeBo more of a grab-and-go breakfast spot, especially if you’re happy to take your food to a nearby park.

What to Do After Breakfast in Barcelona

Once you’ve had breakfast, it’s time to start exploring. I usually like to choose where I eat based on what I’m planning to see that day, especially since Barcelona is such a great city to explore on foot.

If you start your morning at The Vegan Corner or Santa Vegana, for example, you’re already in the Gothic Quarter and can head straight into sightseeing without wasting time traveling across the city.

And you don’t need to spend money on every attraction. Check out my favorite free things to do in Barcelona to plan what to do after breakfast.
