Stunning Barcelona Viewpoints for the Best Views

Are you looking for the best Barcelona viewpoint? With so many options, itโ€™s hard to know which to choose. Each viewpoint offers something unique, whether it’s panoramic views of the city skyline, the Mediterranean coast, or the iconic landmarks like Sagrada Famรญlia.

But if you only have a few days in Barcelona, you might not have the luxury of visiting them all. Luckily, I had the time to explore all of the viewpoints in Barcelona, so I can help you find the perfect one based on what you want to see.

Whether youโ€™re looking for the best spot for sunset, a quieter escape from the crowds, or an iconic shot of Barcelonaโ€™s skyline, this guide will help you choose the right one.

1. Most Iconic Viewpoint: Park Gรผell

Park Gรผell, designed by Antoni Gaudรญ, is a must-visit for its stunning architecture and nature. While most people come for the iconic photo on the colorful bench with the Barcelona skyline in the background, be prepared for crowds, you’ll need to queue up for the perfect picture.

For a quieter experience, head to the three crosses viewpoint inside Park Gรผell. The view is partially obstructed by trees, but it still offers a scenic view and a pleasant walk away from the busy main area.

Park Gรผell is the only viewpoint on this list that requires an entrance fee, but itโ€™s well worth it for fans of Gaudรญโ€™s work. If you want to see more of his work, check out my guide to the best buildings designed by Gaudรญ in Barcelona.

2. Most Popular Viewpoint: MUHBA Turรณ de la Rovira

The MUHBA Turรณ de la Rovira, also known as Bunker del Carmel, is a popular spot offering one of the best views of Barcelona, with the city and ocean as the backdrop. The name comes from the Spanish Civil War bunkers that still remain, though you can’t go inside them.

It’s even further from the city center than Park Gรผell. You can reach it by taking the metro to Alfons X, followed by a 20-minute walk. Alternatively, you can take the bus 92 to Ctra. del Carmel or bus 119 to Mariร  Lavรจrnia.

It can get crowded at sunset, so I recommend to arrive early. You can bring your own vegan snacks and drinks from Barcelona city centre. Don’t forget to bring a towel if you don’t want to sit on the ground.

3. Best View of the Harbour: Mirador de Montjuic

Mirador de Montjuรฏc is the closest viewpoint to the city center, located just behind the Magic Fountain of Montjuรฏc. Btw, the fountain’s light show is a must-see on any Barcelona itinerary.

You can either walk up through the park or take a cable car to the top. The walk is really nice on its own with plenty of shaded benches to rest along the way.

At the top, youโ€™ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of both the city and the expansive harbor. This is actually the only viewpoint with harbour views.

At the top of Mount Montjuรฏc you can also explore Montjuรฏc Castle. You can explore the fortification or check the event calendar for any upcoming events at the castle.

4. Highest Viewpoint: Mount Tibidabo

Tibidabo is the highest viewpoint in Barcelona and also the one furthest away from the city centre. There are several ways to reach the top: you can take the funicular, hop on a bus, grab a taxi, or drive. Walking is also an option, but itโ€™s quite far and time-consuming.

At the top, you’ll find an amusement park and a church. The amusement park seems to cater mainly to children, but the Ferris wheel creates a picturesque scene against the city backdrop.

You can explore the church or wander through the park while waiting for the sunset, which adds a golden glow to the stunning view.

If you’re looking for a real hike near Barcelona you should go to Montserrat. You have an amazing mountain view from there, though you won’t be able to see all the way to Barcelona.

5. View from a Different Angle: Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC)

This image shows a stunning elevated view of Barcelona from the National Art Museum of Catalonia. In the foreground, a reflective pool leads the eye toward the city's famous four columns and the Plaรงa de Espanya below, framed by greenery and historic buildings. The sky is overcast, with a bird flying mid-air, creating a sense of peaceful grandeur against the urban landscape.
Unfortunately, the fountain was turned off during my visit

If you’re looking for a unique angle of Barcelona, head to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC). Not only does it house some impressive art by Catalan artists, it also offers an epic view over Plaรงa d’Espanya and the city.

Unfortunately, during my visit, the rooftop viewpoint was closed. However, even from outside the museum, the view is already amazing. You get to see the city in a way you wonโ€™t get anywhere else.

That said, if you manage to visit when the rooftop is open, it’s definitely worth purchasing a museum ticket to access it. From the rooftop, youโ€™ll get an even better, panoramic view of Barcelona.

6. Best Views Right in the City: Rooftops

This image captures the striking chimneys and sculptures atop the rooftop of Casa Milร , also known as La Pedrera, designed by Antoni Gaudรญ in Barcelona. The smooth, helmet-like structures with curved lines contrast beautifully with the mosaic-covered chimneys in the background. The bright, cloudless sky enhances the surreal, futuristic feel of the architecture, making it a unique example of Gaudรญ's artistic vision.

Barcelona’s rooftops offer some of the best, most accessible views right in the heart of the city. Whether you want a panoramic photo op or a relaxing spot for a drink, thereโ€™s a rooftop for you.

The 360ยบ Rooftop Bar at Hotel Barcelรณ Raval offers a full panoramic view of the city. Itโ€™s the perfect spot to catch the sunset while sipping on a refreshing drink. Itโ€™s a perfect spot for sunset in Barcelona, but arrive early as it fills up fast.

And for something truly iconic, you canโ€™t miss the Casa Milร  rooftop. As one of Gaudรญโ€™s most famous buildings, it offers a stunning combination of Gaudรญโ€™s surreal chimneys and a gorgeous view of the city. Thereโ€™s an entry fee, but for fans of Gaudรญ, itโ€™s a must-see.

Final Thoughts: Best Viewpoint in Barcelona

I think you get the best view from the Mount Tibidabo viewpoint since it’s the highest of all Barcelona city viewpoints. However, itโ€™s also the furthest from the center, the most difficult to get to, and the most expensive to get to.
