Harry Potter Afternoon Tea in London: Georgian House Hotel

If you’re looking for a Harry Potter afternoon tea in London, your options are more limited than they used to be. Over the past few years, several wizard-themed experiences have closed or quietly dropped their magical branding.

Right now, the Georgian House Hotel is the most reliable place offering a proper wizard-inspired afternoon tea with a great vegan option.

I visited for my birthday during a trip to London, and in this review I’ll share what the atmosphere is really like, how good the vegan food was, and how you can upgrade your Harry Potter experience.

Atmosphere of the Hotel & the Afternoon Tea

From the outside, the Georgian House Hotel looks like a classic London townhouse, elegant, but not obviously magical.

The afternoon tea takes place downstairs in a cellar-style room, which immediately feels more atmospheric. As soon as you walk in, Harry Potter music plays in the background and guests are offered wizard hats to wear, which instantly makes the experience more playful.

The décor isn’t overwhelmingly themed, but there are subtle wizarding touches like fake spiderwebs throughout the room. It feels more like a charming, themed dining experience than an immersive theatrical production.

For me, it could have been more decoration, but it still felt special enough for a birthday celebration.

The Vegan Food at the Afternoon Tea

I had the vegan afternoon tea, which comes with a small surcharge of £3, so it’s £43 per person.

The food is served on a tiered stand designed to look like a cut-open owl cage, a small detail that adds to the wizarding theme.

The vegan selection included a mix of savoury bites and sweet treats. I was pleasantly surprised by how creative some of the items were, rather than just being simple substitutions.

At first glance, it didn’t look like an overwhelming amount of food, but by the end, I was comfortably full.

Add-On: Wizard Potions Experience

If you want something more interactive than afternoon tea alone, the Georgian House Hotel also offers a Wizard Potions experience, available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Guided by an “ancient scroll,” you mix shimmering elixirs, mysterious powders, and theatrical ingredients to create two magical drinks. You can choose between Cocktails and Mocktails.

I didn’t add the potion class to my visit, but if you’re looking for something more hands-on, especially for a birthday or special occasion, it sounds like a fun way to make the experience feel more immersive.
