Being Vegan in Murcia: Where You Can Get the Best Food

I’ll admit it right away: the vegan food scene in Murcia isn’t as extensive as in Barcelona or Madrid, but you can still find delicious vegan options.

During my stay, I visited every vegan and vegetarian restaurant in the city and found my favorite vegan-option breakfast spot, as the other places aren’t open in the mornings. This might sound impressive, but there are only two vegan and two vegetarian restaurants in the city.

Best Vegan Restaurants in Murcia

Pipoca

My favorite vegan restaurant in Murcia was Pipoca. They have a cute outdoor seating area on a Spanish plaza next to some other restaurants.

They have different options for food but I highly recommend ordering a bunch of different items and sharing them as tapas. I really liked the nachos as they came with everything, from vegan minced meat, and cheese, to sour cream, and guacamole.

I would also recommend to get the vegan deviled eggs, it was the first time I had a vegan version and they are quite tasty and very unique. Because of the Kala Namak spice in them, they actually taste like egg.

Vegan Queen

Vegan Queen is Murcia’s best vegan fast food place, okay yes, it is also the only vegan fast food place but they still have good burgers. They’re not best burgers I’ve had, but still very decent burgers, my boyfriend loved them.

So, if you’re in the mood for some vegan chunk food while you’re in Murcia, Vegan Queen is the place to go to.

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Murcia

El Girasol Vegetariano

El Girasol is a vegetarian restaurant that also has many vegan options. It’s located in the center of Murcia and it’s another great place to eat some tapas.

We had two starters and two mains to share, my favourite was probably the Vietnamese pancake, I know that’s not a very Spanish dish but it was still delicious.

Pistatxo

Pistatxo is the best vegetarian place in Murcia for lunch, they have a weekly changing 3-course lunch menu with vegan option clearly marked.

Before your food arrives, you get a free starter, making it feel like a 4-course meal. The free starter of hummus, carrot sticks, and tortilla chips was really nice, the hummus was delicious and tasted home made. I also really liked the falafel I had as a starter.

The mains were alright, but nothing fancy, more like a meal I would cook for myself at home. I had a quinoa vegetable pan, and my boyfriend had a couscous vegetable pan. For dessert, we both chose the vegan chocolate cake, which was delicious but very rich.

Best Vegan Option Place in Murcia

Socolá

Socolá is the best place for vegan breakfast in Murcia. It’s only a vegan options place but they have a separate vegan menu.

We went there almost every day for breakfast and tried almost everything, the bread, the bagels, the yoghurt with fruits, and the pancakes. Everything was delicious and it’s great that they have so many different vegan breakfast options. They even have vegan milkshakes!

Final Thoughts: Vegan Food in Murcia

Although the options for vegan food in Murcia may be limited, being vegan in Murcia is definitely doable. So, there’s nothing holding you back from visiting the city as a vegan and exploring all the attractions in Murcia.
