Sustainable travel isn’t just about eco-friendly destinations, it’s also about what you pack. Whether you travel full-time or love short trips, using sustainable travel accessories can reduce waste, lower your carbon footprint, and support ethical brands.
After 2.5 years of full-time travel, I’ve gradually replaced my essentials with eco-friendly alternatives. In this post I’ll share my top 10 sustainable travel products.
However, remember that sustainability isn’t just about buying new “green” products, it’s always better to use what you already own until it truly needs replacing.
1. Power Bank Made from Recycled Materials
A power bank is one of my absolute essentials for every day trip. I use my phone for navigation, photos, tickets, and finding vegan restaurants, so my battery drains fast. The last thing I want is to be stuck with a dead phone.
Most power banks, however, eventually end up as electronic waste. That’s why I switched to one made from recycled bike batteries by a UK-based company. Not only does it give old batteries a second life, but it’s also super stylish and made out of recycled plastic.

2. Reusable Water Bottle
A stainless steel water bottle is one of the easiest swaps to cut down on single-use plastic bottles. My personal favorite is from Klean Kanteen, and I prefer their single-wall version because it’s lighter than an insulated bottle.
The good thing about Klean Kanteen is that they produce their bottles out of 95% recycled steel, they’re also a certified B Corp and are part of 1% for the planet.

Traditional electric toothbrushes generate a lot of plastic and electronic waste, but SURI’s electric toothbrush is designed with sustainability in mind. It’s made from recyclable materials, and its modular design makes it repairable.

A titanium spork is a simple but essential swap to replace single-use plastic cutlery. I used to have a plastic one, but while eating a green coconut in Thailand, it snapped! Stainless steel is a more durable option.

Solid shampoo bars are not really a travel assessory, they’re more a must-have for zero waste travel. They’re a completely plastic free alternative to “normal” shampoo, conditioner and soap. And they are the easiest way to minimise your toiletries.
The best way to store your eco-friendly toiletries are inside a special soap bar bag which stays dry on the outside while allowing the bars on the inside to dry.

I love using them for machine washing, but they’re also great for handwashing, working just as well as regular detergent but without the plastic waste. Most brands use biodegradable, non-toxic ingredients, making them safer for your skin and the environment.
