Top Beaches in Benidorm Within Walking Distance of the City Center

Are you looking for the best beaches in Benidorm city centre? You’re at the right spot!

Benidorm is a popular tourist destination in Spain known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful scenery.

In this post, I’ll talk about the beaches you can reach on foot from Benidorm’s city center, who they’re best for, and the amenities you can expect. Keep in mind that facilities like lifeguards and portable toilets may only be available in summer, not year-round.

So grab your sunscreen, towel, and flip-flops, and let’s go!

1. Levant Beach

A bustling beach in Benidorm, Spain, packed with sunbathers and swimmers. High-rise buildings line the coast, offering a stunning contrast between the natural beauty of the beach and the modern cityscape, making it one of the most popular beaches in Benidorm.
Levant Beach Benidorm’s most popular beach

Levante Beach is the main beach in Benidorm, which means itā€™s also the most busy. Itā€™s really easy to reach and it has all the amenities you need close by.

Itā€™s the best beach in Benidorm for fun water sports. You can enjoy jet skiing, snorkeling boat tours, cable skiing (like waterskiing but pulled by a ski lift), and more.

The downside of this beach is that it can get very crowded. It’s still the reason why many families with kids visit Benidorm.

Toilets: container toilets (not many, given how many people are on the beach)

2. Platja de Ponent

A wide beach with a few people on it, in the distance you can see the city of Benidorm
You can find empty spaces on the beach by staying a bit further from the ocean.

Poniente Beach is the largest beach in Benidorm. Itā€™s seems a bit quieter than Levante, since the beach is so wide that you can easily find an empty space further away from the water. The stretch right at the water is still very busy.

There’s also some water activities available at Platja de Ponent, like a bouncy castle and climbing frame in the ocean, places to rent jet skis, and more.

At the end of the beach near the old town of Benidorm, there’s an accessible beach with medical staff and special ocean wheelchairs.

Sun Lounges: yes
Shops: close by
Water Sport Activities: yes, but not as many options as Levante Beach

3. Cala del Mal Pas

A lively beach in Benidorm, Spain, featuring golden sand, turquoise waters, and rows of colorful umbrellas. The skyline of Benidorm with its tall buildings and a marina in the background adds to the charm of one of the best beaches in the area.

Cala del Mal Pas is a small beach located next to the old town of Benidorm. Itā€™s surrounded on one side by rocky cliffs and on the other side by the harbour.

This beach feels more secluded despite being close to the old town. It can still get quite busy in the summer months though.

There are no water sports available, so it’s a perfect beach to relax in the sun, read a book, and swim in the crystal-clear water.

Toilets: container toilets close by
Lifeguard: yes
Sun Lounges: yes
Shops: a bit further away
Water Sport Activities: no (the harbour is close by)

4. Cala Almadraba

A secluded cove in Benidorm, Spain, surrounded by rocky cliffs and natural vegetation. The crystal-clear waters and a few beachgoers enjoying the serene atmosphere make this one of Benidorm's hidden beach gems.
There’s a scenic path leading to Cala Almadraba

This smaller beach is tucked away in a bay. You have to climb down a rocky path to reach it, making it the most difficult beach to access compared to others. However, it’s manageable if you’re sure-footed. If you have walking difficulties, this beach may not be for you.

From the beach, you can see Benidorm in the distance, with towering skyscrapers on the cliffs nearby. The view of the city makes the beach feel less remote than the walk there suggests.

Cala Almadraba beach mainly consists of rocks, but fine sand begins at the water’s edge, so you can comfortably walk into the ocean on fine sand.

Lifeguard: yes
Sun Lounges: no

5. Cala Tio Ximo

A secluded cove in Benidorm, Spain, surrounded by rocky cliffs and natural vegetation with a lot of green bushes in the front of the picture. The crystal-clear waters and a few beachgoers enjoying the serene atmosphere make this one of Benidorm's hidden beach gems.
Cala Tio Ximo is a stunning and remote beach

This small beach feels even more remote than Cala Almadraba, despite being easier to reach via a small road. There’s also a shortcut that involves climbing down rough terrain, but you can simply follow the road to the beach.

The beach is much quieter than other beaches in Benidorm, this might be because it’s farther from the center and it has a rocky instead of sandy shore.

The water is absolutely beautiful, itā€™s so clear, you can see fish swimming everywhere so itā€™s a great place if you want to do some snorkeling.
