For a year I thought that Granada was my favourite city in Andalusia, that was before I visited Seville for 3 days. I absolutely loved the city, from the picturesque location next to the river to the modern elements like the Setas de Sevilla.
3 days in Seville is a good amount of time to see the beautiful city and do a day trip to the surrounding area. But trust me, you could easily spend more time as well.

Day 1 of the Seville 3 Days Itinerary: Main Attractions
On the first day of this 3 day Seville itinerary, we’ll visit all the major attractions of the city. I recommend swapping the order depending on where your accommodation is located.
As these are the most visited attractions in Seville you should book your tickets beforehand. The Royal Alcázar of Seville gets sold out weeks in advance during high season.
Plaza de España
Let’s start this Seville 3 day itinerary with my personal favourite: Plaza de España.
Plaza de España is a big square consisting of a semicircular building in a mix of Renaissance and Moorish designs, around a canal with quaint bridges over it. It was constructed in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition.
This square is not just the perfect background for your pictures, it’s also a great place to see Flamenco street performances. I visited the square twice during my time in the city and both times there was a little Flamenco show.

Royal Alcázar of Seville
The Royal Alcázar of Seville, or just Alcázar of Seville is the royal palace. It’s a very popular attraction in Seville. I recommend booking the entrance ticket as soon as you know when your trip is going to be.
The Alcázar of Seville reminded me a bit of the Alhambra in Granada, but in a less impressive way, to be honest.
The impressive part about the Seville palace is that it’s still in use for the Spanish royal family when they visit Seville. You can even visit their royal bed chambers. Well, you can when you book the extra tickets early enough. When I visited all tickets were sold out.
Cathedral de Sevilla
Seville Cathedral is the fourth largest church in the whole world as well as the largest Gothic cathedral in the world!
Do you need any other reasons to visit this masterpiece? The bell tower of the cathedral, Giralda Tower, was originally built as the minaret of the Great Mosque of Seville, which stood on the spot of the cathedral.
Inside the cathedral, you can find the tomb of Christopher Columbus.
My tip: Get your tickets online, or be prepared to queue up for a long time.

Las Setas de Sevilla
The Setas de Sevilla, or Metropol Parasol is a big wooden structure in Seville. According to the official homepage, it’s the biggest wooden structure in the world.
No matter, if it really is the biggest wooden structure, it’s definitely worth visiting. You can admire it from below for free, or pay to go up to the viewing platform.
Sunset is the best time to go to the viewing platform. You’ll see the sun set behind the city skyline and once it gets dark the light show starts.
I recommend booking your ticket online if you want to visit at sunset. We queued up for so long that we missed the sunset!

Day 2 of the Seville 3 Days Itinerary: Riverside
The second day of this 3-day Seville itinerary has a water theme. There are so many great things to do near the river. And in the evening it’s time for some relaxing spa time.
Torre del Oro
One of the great things to do in Seville is to go for a walk next to the Guadalquivir River.
In the early mornings, it has a special atmosphere to it. During that time everything has a special glow to it, the air is fresh and you see people starting their day with a morning jog next to the river.
When you go for a walk next to the river, keep your eyes open for Torre del Oro. This tower next to the river was originally built as a military watchtower. Today it’s home to a small maritime museum.
I’ve heard it’s not worth going inside, but I definitely recommend checking it out from the outside.
Kayak Tour
Before going to Seville I had no idea how popular kayaking is in the city. You’ll see tourists as well as professional-looking athletes in kayaks on the Guadalquivir River.
Especially on hot summer days, going kayaking is the perfect way to see the city from a different perspective.
Mercado de Triana
The main market of Seville is located in the Triana neighbourhood just next to the Guadalquivir River. Visiting the market gives you a good reason to cross the river.
In the market, you can find everything from fresh produce to souvenirs.
Right next to the market is one of the many vegan spots in Seville. It’s a great place to have some coffee and a cake.
Parque de María Luisa
Parque de María Luisa is Seville’s biggest park and you can easily spend a few hours exploring it. In the park, there are many fountains, sculptures, and even museums and waterfalls.
It’s the perfect place to relax in the shade of a tree in the summer months when it gets too hot in the city.

Arab Baths
Unfortunately, I only discovered the Arab Bath on my last day and I didn’t have the time to try them out myself. But I loved going to Arab Baths in Granada and I’m sure the ones in Seville are just as good.
After some research, I think AIRE Ancient Baths looks the best. They have pools with different temperatures, a great candle light atmosphere and you can get a relaxing massage.
Day 3 of the Seville 3 Days Itinerary: Day Trip
There are numerous day trips from Seville you can do on the last day of this 3 day itinerary in Seville. Here’s a list of the three most popular day trip destinations, you can choose which one sounds most interesting to you.
Option 1: Granada
As I said in the intro, I love Granada. It has a unique atmosphere to it and the city has so much more to offer than the famous Alhambra.
In Granada, you can stroll through the narrow streets of the Albaicín neighbourhood, see the cave houses of Sacromonte, have tea in a traditional tea house and shop at Basar-styled market streets.
I would recommend spending at least two nights in Granada, so you have time to explore everything Granada has to offer.
But if you don’t have enough time for that, it is possible to do a day trip from Seville to Granada. I just recommend accounting for time to see the city itself as well and not just the Alhambra.
Option 2: Córdoba
Córdoba is another popular day trip destination from Seville. It’s easily doable by public transport.
In Cordoba, you can stroll through the old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit the Alcazaba, and walk across the Roman Bridge.
But the highlight of a Cordoba day trip from Seville is the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. This former mosque turned cathedral is one of the most impressive religious buildings I’ve ever visited, and I’ve been to a LOT.

Option 3: Ronda
A day trip to Ronda from Seville is a great option if you want to see one of the famous white villages of Andalusia. Ronda is home to the Instagrammable New Bridge which spans the canyon, which runs through the town.
There are countless of viewing points all around Ronda, from where you have stunning views of the surrounding area.
On the way to Ronda, you can stop at other white villages, so you get a feeling for what the countryside in Southern Spain is like.

Best Time to Visit Seville
The best time to visit Seville is spring or fall. In those shoulder seasons, the temperatures are still warm but you can escape the summer heat.
I visited in October and it still had about 30°C (86°F) every day, so in summer, it would definitely be too hot for a city trip to Seville.
The biggest festivities in Seville are around easter. In the Semana Santa, the holy week, you can see a procession through the city. But during this time there are a LOT of people in Seville and hotel prices skyrocket.

Getting Around Seville
Seville has a great tram and bus service, but to be completely honest, I didn’t use it once in my time in Seville since everything is within walking distance.
Seville is a very walkable city, so the best way to get around is to walk. While walking you might even discover some hidden gems in Seville.
