Krumlovská Pohádka Review: Charming Hotel in Český Krumlov

During my trip to Český Krumlov, I stayed at Krumlovská pohádka, a small hotel located right in the historic center.

Since I was traveling solo, I booked a single room. Because I visited during the low season though, I ended up getting a free upgrade to a double room, which was a really nice surprise.

The upgraded room was very spacious, and the location couldn’t have been better. From my window I could look straight down onto the square, and when I leaned out a little I could even see the castle tower of Český Krumlov Castle.

Overall, I had a really comfortable stay here. The bed was extremely comfortable, the breakfast was much better than I expected, and the hotel is perfectly located for exploring the town. There were a few small things to be aware of though, especially when it comes to noise.

My Room at Krumlovská Pohádka

As I mentioned earlier, I originally booked a single room at Krumlovská pohádka, which I already appreciated because many hotels don’t offer single rooms at all. Since I visited Český Krumlov during the low season, I ended up getting a free upgrade to a double room.

The bed was extremely comfortable, which is always the most important thing for me in a hotel. After a full day of exploring Český Krumlov, it was really nice to come back to such a comfortable bed.

The bathroom was also great, especially the shower. The water pressure was strong and the temperature was easy to adjust, which isn’t always the case in older buildings. And they had a shampoo and lotion from Manufaktura, a Czech cosmetic company which I really like.

One of my favorite things about the room though was the view. From my window I could look down onto the square, and if I leaned out slightly I even had a view of the Český Krumlov Castle, which was a really nice bonus.

Vegan Breakfast at the Hotel

Breakfast was included in my stay at Krumlovská pohádka, and it ended up being much better than I expected.

The hotel serves a buffet style breakfast with a mix of typical breakfast items. Nothing was labeled vegan, but I was still able to put together a pretty good breakfast by sticking to the obvious plant based options.

For breakfast I had bread with vegan butter (which came in a clearly labeled prepackaged portion), baked beans, grilled vegetables, fresh vegetables, fruit, and jam.

So while the hotel isn’t specifically vegan friendly, I still found plenty to eat, which was a nice bonus during my stay in Český Krumlov.

One Thing to Be Aware Of: Noise

The only real downside I noticed during my stay at Krumlovská pohádka was the noise.

In the morning, I could hear construction work outside the window, which woke me up earlier than planned. In the evening, I could also hear people talking in the hallway quite clearly.

That said, the night itself was actually quiet, and I slept well. Since I visited Český Krumlov in the low season, the town was generally calm. I can imagine that during summer, when the Old Town is much busier, there might also be more noise from outside.

If you’re sensitive to noise, I would recommend bringing earplugs just in case. Other than that, the hotel was very comfortable overall.

Who This Hotel Is Best For

I think Krumlovská pohádka is a great choice if you want to stay right in the historic center of Český Krumlov.

Because the town is quite compact, staying in the Old Town makes it very easy to explore everything on foot. I was able to walk to all the main sights, viewpoints, cafés, and restaurants within just a few minutes.

This hotel is especially a good option for:

  • Solo travelers, since they offer single rooms
  • Travelers who want a comfortable and simple stay in the Old Town
  • Anyone planning to stay one night in Český Krumlov

If you’re a very light sleeper, the only thing to keep in mind is the potential noise from the street or hallway. Bringing earplugs is a good idea just in case. Otherwise you might want to opt for a place a bit further from the center.

Otherwise, the comfortable bed, good breakfast, and central location make it a very solid choice for a short stay in Český Krumlov.
